At Recovery Together, we believe that connection is a vital part of healing. Our Increased Social and Community Participation support is designed to help you build confidence, explore your interests, and find your place in the world; on your terms.

This support falls under two key NDIS Capacity Building categories:

1. Assistance in Coordinating or Managing Life Stages, Transitions and Supports
This support helps you prepare for and manage important life transitions such as moving out of home, starting a new activity, forming new routines, or joining a new group. It’s all about building the confidence and skills to manage change and thrive across different stages of life.
We help with:

Building routines and independence

Setting personal goals and action steps

Navigating transitions (e.g. school to work, moving house, entering a new service)

Creating community connections and support networks

Exploring identity, purpose, and long-term direction

2. Development of Daily Living and Life Skills
This area focuses on building the everyday skills you need to live a more independent, meaningful life—at home and in the community. It’s highly individualised and guided by your own goals.
We support you with:

Social confidence and communication skills

Public transport use and travel training

Cooking, budgeting, time management

Community access and engagement (groups, clubs, events)

Problem-solving and emotional regulation in social settings
What to Expect
When you engage with us under this support, we tailor a program that reflects your interests, strengths, and NDIS goals. Sessions can be one-on-one or in small groups, online or in person—whatever works best for you.
You’ll be matched with a dedicated support worker or recovery coach who helps you:

Set meaningful social and community goals

Break them down into manageable steps

Try new activities with support and encouragement

Build confidence in navigating community spaces

Reflect on progress and adjust as needed

Example Program (6–8 Weeks)
Week 1 – Discovery & Planning
Initial session to explore your social goals, interests, current barriers, and community opportunities.
Week 2 – Local Mapping
Identify local events, programs, and social spaces that match your interests. Plan a first outing or group visit.
Week 3 – Skills for Engagement
Roleplay and practice communication skills, self-regulation strategies, and conversation starters.
Week 4 – Supported Outing
Attend an activity (e.g. art class, market, sports group) with support worker alongside.
Week 5 – Independent Practice
Work on planning your own outing, contacting services, and preparing solo.
Week 6 – Reflection & Review
Discuss what went well, what to adjust, and set next goals (e.g. regular participation, new group, volunteering).
(Program can be repeated or extended based on your needs and growth.)

Who is this support for?
This support is for NDIS participants who want to become more confident, independent, and connected in their community. It’s perfect if you’re feeling isolated or unsure where to begin.
Is this one-on-one or group-based?
We offer both. Some participants prefer individual coaching and outings, while others enjoy small group programs. We’ll work with your preferences.
Do I need to already know what I want to do?
Not at all! We’re here to explore that with you. Whether you have a passion to grow or you’re still figuring it out, we’ll walk alongside you.
Can I do this support online?
Yes—especially in the early stages of planning and confidence-building. We can also support you virtually to access online social groups or plan in-person outings.
How does this connect to my NDIS plan?
This support is funded under:

We can help you identify how to best use your NDIS funding for this support and write up progress reports for your reviews.
What if I have social anxiety or past trauma?
