What to Expect

When you begin working with a Psychosocial Recovery Coach, here’s what the journey typically looks like:

1. Initial Consultation

We’ll meet with you (online or in person) to understand who you are, your lived experience, and what matters to you. We’ll also help you understand your NDIS plan and how recovery coaching fits into it.

2. Goal Setting and Planning

Together, we’ll develop a personalised Recovery Plan based on your strengths, interests, and needs. We’ll identify immediate goals and long-term aspirations.

3. Support Coordination and Referrals

We’ll help you find the right providers, programs, and supports that suit you—and ensure everyone’s working together in a way that supports your recovery.

4. Ongoing Coaching

Regular check-ins and collaborative support to keep you motivated, reflect on progress, and make adjustments when life changes. We’re in this with you.

5. Review and Progress Reports

As part of the NDIS process, we provide written updates on how you’re tracking with your goals. These are helpful for plan reviews and future funding.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is a Psychosocial Recovery Coach?

A Recovery Coach is an NDIS-funded professional who supports people with psychosocial disabilities (mental health-related disabilities) to build capacity, navigate the NDIS, and connect with the right supports.

How is a Recovery Coach different from a Support Coordinator?

Recovery Coaches offer similar support coordination but with a specific focus on mental health recovery. They bring lived or learned experience in mental health and use a coaching approach to empower you.

Do I need a mental health diagnosis to work with a Recovery Coach?

Yes, Recovery Coaching is for NDIS participants with a psychosocial disability, which typically involves a diagnosis. However, you don’t need to have this formally diagnosed to have an initial conversation with us—we can help you understand what’s required.

Is it online or in-person?

We offer both! We’re based in the Northern Rivers, NSW, but also provide flexible and accessible online support to participants across Australia.

How often do I meet with my Recovery Coach?

That depends on your goals, preferences, and what’s funded in your plan. We’ll work with you to design a rhythm that suits your lifestyle—weekly, fortnightly, or monthly.

Can I choose my Recovery Coach?

Absolutely. We value the importance of connection and trust. If you’d like to meet with a few team members before deciding who you’d like to work with, we’ll make that happen.
