NDIS Capacity Building Supports

At Recovery Together, we offer a suite of Capacity Building supports tailored to NDIS participants living with psychosocial disabilities. Our holistic model integrates mental health recovery, skill development, and community participation, all with the goal of helping participants build a life that is meaningful to them.

Psychosocial Recovery Coaching

This is the heart of what we do.

Our Recovery Coaches work side-by-side with participants to unpack the complex challenges that come with mental health diagnoses and disability. We help you understand your NDIS plan, develop a recovery plan based on your strengths and goals, and break things down into achievable steps. More than just goal-setting, this is about:

  • Building a trusting, empowering relationship.

  • Navigating service systems (mental health, housing, legal, AOD).

  • Developing confidence in decision-making and self-advocacy.

  • Supporting participants during episodes of unwellness with consistency and care.

We don’t just coach—we walk the path with you.

Improved Daily Living

This support is about reclaiming everyday life skills that enable participants to live with greater independence and dignity.

We work collaboratively to develop or relearn essential life skills, including:

  • Budgeting, meal planning, and nutrition.

  • Personal hygiene and household routines.

  • Managing appointments, time, and schedules.

  • Accessing health and allied health services.

For us, this isn’t just about skills. It’s about building habits and routines that support mental wellness and reduce overwhelm.

Increased Social and Community Participation

Social connection is a cornerstone of recovery, yet often the most difficult to rebuild.

We provide structured opportunities for participants to develop confidence in social settings, explore their interests, and reconnect with their communities. This may include:

  • 1:1 mentoring or small group activities in community settings.

  • Attending local peer groups or events.

  • Building communication, self-expression, and boundary-setting skills.

  • Exploring volunteer roles or interest-based clubs.

Every social goal is approached with care, pacing, and support suited to the individual’s comfort and stage of recovery.

Finding and Keeping a Job

We believe meaningful employment should be accessible, flexible, and aligned with a participant’s capacity and values.

We offer employment-focused coaching that recognises the mental health impacts of stress and rejection. Services include:

  • Identifying personal strengths, interests, and vocational goals.

  • Resume writing, job search strategy, and interview practice.

  • Exploring supported employment options.

  • Building workplace resilience, boundaries, and communication strategies.

This isn’t just about getting a job—it’s about sustainable, fulfilling participation in the world of work.

Improved Relationships

Healthy relationships begin with self-awareness and self-worth.

We provide psychoeducation and guided reflection to help participants:

  • Identify toxic or unhelpful relational patterns.

  • Set and maintain boundaries without guilt.

  • Learn to navigate interpersonal conflict calmly and safely.

  • Build skills for trust, empathy, and mutual respect.

This support can also include family or carer education sessions, helping everyone involved understand the participant’s support needs and communication style.

Improved Health and Wellbeing

We take a whole-of-person view of health, understanding that mental health is deeply connected to sleep, movement, nutrition, and stress.

This support can include:

  • Building a self-care plan that actually feels achievable.

  • Connecting with fitness, allied health, or alternative therapies.

  • Learning emotional regulation strategies like grounding, breathwork, or journaling.

  • Addressing barriers to accessing mainstream health services.

Our coaches support participants to engage with their health on their own terms, not out of pressure, but out of self-compassion.

Improved Learning

Our approach is grounded in trauma-informed, recovery-oriented practice. We understand that many of our participants may have had disrupted schooling, negative education experiences, or have felt excluded from learning environments in the past. That’s why we focus on creating safe, supported, and empowering pathways forward wherever you’re starting from.

We help participants:

  • Build motivation and self-belief around their learning goals.

  • Navigate applications for TAFE, university, or short courses.

  • Understand and access disability support at educational institutions.

  • Stay engaged with learning through structured coaching, routines, and problem-solving.

We provide consistent support to help make learning accessible and less overwhelming.

Improved Living Arrangements

Having a safe, stable, and supportive home environment is essential for recovery.

We assist participants in:

  • Identifying suitable housing options, including supported or shared living.

  • Navigating applications for public housing or Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA).

  • Building skills to maintain a tenancy (cleaning, noise, communication with landlords).

  • Exploring independent living goals and transitions over time.

Our team ensures participants feel supported throughout the entire process, understanding that moving house can trigger stress, anxiety, and trauma.
